This is the first photo book in colour of Broek in Waterland, just north of Amsterdam.
It describes the history of this village and the history and architecture of 50 premises. The 280 photographs show the exteriors, interiors and details of the historic houses.
Not only the well known wooden houses have been documented, but also the first brick houses from the beginning of the eighteenth century have been described.
Architectural photographer Olaf Klijn and myself are grateful for the cooperation of some local experts such as Mr. J. Witte, Mr. H.J. Zantkuijl and Mr. J.W. Niemeijer.
A snapshot of Broek in Waterland, a unique village with remarkable buildings and a colourful history. A village to be cherished by all.
